Welcome to a new way to connect to our elders and capture the historical stories of past generations before they are lost forever.

OUR MISSION: Is to create legacies from the elders in our community
by producing a catalogue of stories from their lives which
will be collated onto a dedicated digital platform. The
collected stories will be categorised by themes and will be
based on a significant event, period of time or episode in
the lives of those who lived in a different world from the
one we are living in now.

Our artist collectives re-tell tales of love, loss, life and adventure through dance, theatre, music, poetry, spoken work, video, audio, film and photography as told by those who have lived long on this earth and who’s memories and stories are precious and important to future generations…

By engaging local arts practitioners from the region
to bring these catalogued stories to life through their art
from. These will also be uploaded with the accompanying
story to the digital platform to be shared and celebrated
with the wider community. The intention is to be able to
offer paid contracts to Sunshine Coast artists across a
myriad of disciplines to generate new creative work that
builds capacity, profiling the artist and the flourishing arts
ecology of the region.

Sunshine Coast Council Arts Plan Alignment:

This project supports artists to test, develop and realise ideas through providing a framework that supports and celebrates our local artists. We will provide them with collaborative opportunities, aid them in building their professional profiles through our online platform as well as provide opportunities to up-skill, honing writing, editing, publishing and performing skills. The online and live platforms provide valuable opportunities to test, develop and realise creative ideas through the integration of text, story-telling, videography and performance.

This project supports diverse art experiences by providing a framework that supports a collaboration between a diverse range of artists and a diverse range of elders from our region. This unique collaboration has the capacity to grow new audiences where there was none previously, particularly in the aged care sector and their families. The online platform also has potential to be far reaching beyond our region, creating opportunity for growth and expansion into untapped markets.

This project identifies new and expanded markets for creative content in the aged care and health sectors. We will work towards making connections with hospices, retirement villages and other health facilities in order to foster connections and relationships that build on our concept of creating a living and breathing catalogue of local legacies.

This project has tremendous capacity to increase awareness of the value of story-telling as a way to preserve our local history and art practices as a way to connect, create and participate in outcomes that affect generations. This project endeavours to build the capacity of local artists, increasing the reputation of Sunshine Coast as a flourishing and inspiring arts community.
